about

I wrote this one late last summer/early last fall. We started working on it in mid September, but it got shelved while we finished some other songs. It is a reflection on all the craziness and uncertainty going on around us at the time. It's not quite the follow-up to Things That Matter that I was envisioning, but I am happy with the way it turned out, nevertheless.

lyrics

NEXT CROSSROADS

The colours seem more vibrant on this Polaroid in my mind
Nostalgia’s misdirection satisfied
And I can’t quite wrap my finger around the threshold where it changed
Still I hope these paths will intersect again

CHORUS:
Sometimes I feel so out of place
On these familiar, dusty roads
Still better that I’m passing through once more
I won’t let myself be haunted by the things I can’t let go
The next crossroads
Where the wind blows
I don’t know

So hard to find the Great Escape with this nightfall along the way
Focused on the sparks along the breach
Don’t want to stand here idle as my surroundings fall in flames
This pyre still grips, I can’t explain

CHORUS, INST.

The colours seem more vibrant on this Polaroid in my mind
Nostalgia’s misdirection satisfied

CHORUS
Sometimes I feel so out of place
On these familiar, dusty roads
Still better that I’m passing through once more
And you can’t GO back now to where it all began, but you can start from where you are
The next crossroads
Where the wind blows
I don’t know
